L’allégorie de la caverne est une allégorie exposée par Platon dans La République. Elle expose en termes imagés les conditions d’accession de l’homme à la connaissance du Bien, au sens métaphysique du terme, ainsi que la transmission de cette connaissance.
L’allégorie met en scène des hommes enchaînés et immobilisés dans une caverne. Ils tournent le dos à l’entrée et voient non pas des objets, mais les ombres des objets qui sont projetées contre le mur. Ils croient voir la vérité, alors qu’ils n’en voient qu’une apparence.

Alegoria înfățișează bărbați înlănțuiți și imobilizați într-o peșteră. Ei se întorc cu spatele la intrare și văd nu obiecte, ci umbrele obiectelor care sunt proiectate pe perete. Ei cred că văd adevărul, când văd doar o aparență.

The Allegory of the Cave is an allegory expounded by Plato in The Republic. It sets out in colorful terms the conditions for man’s accession to the knowledge of the Good, in the metaphysical sense of the term, as well as the transmission of this knowledge.
The allegory depicts men chained and immobilized in a cave. They turn their backs to the entrance and see not objects, but the shadows of objects that are projected against the wall. They think they see the truth, when they only see an appearance.
