« Get up and boogie »
Freddie James (né le 26 avril 1964) est un musicien canadien de danse et de rythme et de blues, surtout connu pour son tube disco de 1979 « Get Up and Boogie ». Fils de la chanteuse Géraldine Hunt, il est né à Chicago, Illinois et a déménagé à Montréal, Québec dans son enfance.
C’est en 1979 à l’âge de 14 ans qu’il sort l’EP de quatre chansons « Get Up and Boogie. » En 1980, il reçoit deux nominations aux Juno Awards pour le Single de l’année: « Get Up and Boogie. » La même année, il remporte le Canadian Black Music Award du meilleur album. Il enchaîne en 1981 avec l’album « Sweetness. » En plus de son propre travail, il a été producteur crédité sur « Murphy’s Law », un single de sa sœur Rosalind Hunt. En 1985, il apparaît dans une production montréalaise de Hair. En 1987, il tient un second rôle dans le film Wild Thing.
En 1992, il sort l’album plus influencé par le hip hop: « Come into the Jungle » sur Monogram Records. En 1999, il est apparu sur l’album de sa mère Soultry: « Jazzy and Sexy. » Il n’a sorti aucune nouvelle musique enregistrée depuis, mais a continué à se produire dans la région de Montréal et à sélectionner des dates de tournée.

La vârsta de 14 ani, a lansat EP-ul de patru melodii Get Up and Boogie în 1979. A primit două nominalizări la Juno Award în 1980 pentru single-ul anului: „(Everybody) Get Up and Boogie” și pentru Cel mai promițător cântăreț masculin al momentului. În același an, a câștigat premiul Canadian Black Music Award pentru cel mai bun album. A urmat-o în 1981 cu albumul Sweetness. Pe lângă propria sa lucrare, a fost producător creditat pentru „Murphy’s Law”, un single al surorii sale, Rosalind Hunt. În 1985, a apărut într-o producție de la Montreal din Hair. « Get up and boogie »
Freddie James (born April 26, 1964) is a Canadian dance and rhythm and blues musician, most noted for his 1979 disco hit « (Everybody) Get Up and Boogie ». The son of singer Geraldine Hunt, he was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Montreal, Quebec in childhood.
At age 14, he released the four song EP Get Up and Boogie in 1979. He received two Juno Award nominations at the Juno Awards of 1980, for Single of the Year for « (Everybody) Get Up and Boogie », and for Most Promising Male Vocalist. In the same year, he won the Canadian Black Music Award for Best Album. He followed up in 1981 with the album Sweetness. In addition to his own work, he was a credited producer on « Murphy’s Law », a single by his sister Rosalind Hunt’s band Chéri. In 1985, he appeared in a Montreal production of Hair. In 1987, he had a supporting role in the film Wild Thing.
In 1992, he released the more hip hop influenced album Come into the Jungle on Monogram Records. In 1999 he appeared on his mother’s album Soultry, Jazzy and Sexy. He has not released any new recorded music since that time, but has continued to perform in the Montreal area, and selected touring dates.
