Lorsqu’internet en était à ses balbutiements

Sur un banc d’Amsterdam, trois personnages immobiles fixent leur téléphone. L’artiste a appelé cette sculpture simplement « Addiction ».
Génération des années 90 et celle d’après, le croirez-vous ou pas, Internet n’a pas toujours existé et le monde ne s’en portait pas plus mal. Les choses allaient moins vite certes mais sans les nanosecondes du monde digital, nous avancions avec sérénité et conviction.
Aujourd’hui, on pourrait considérer les addictes aux écrans comme étant les lobotomisés du système, les possédés du XXIème siècle.
Et si l’Internet devait s’arrêter:
Et en effet, si Internet venait à disparaître soudainement, pour beaucoup d’entre nous, ce serait la fin d’un monde. L’économie mondiale tout entière ne peut se passer de cette technologie, et si elle devait disparaître, nous retournerions au Moyen Âge.
Les gosses d’aujourd’hui qui baignent dans l’internet depuis la naissance en perdraient la raison. Tout un pan de notre société serait appelé à disparaître.
Internet est une arme à double tranchant : il nous libère tout en nous asservissant.

Generations of the 90s and beyond, believe it or not, the internet didn’t always exist, and the world wasn’t any worse off for it. Things were moving more slowly, of course, but without the nanoseconds of the digital world, we moved forward with serenity and conviction.
Today, we could consider screen addicts as the lobotomized of the system, the possessed of the 21st century.
What if the internet were to shut down:
And indeed, if the internet were to suddenly shut down, for many of us it would be the end of a certain world. The entire global economy cannot do without this technology, and if it were to shut down, we would return to the Middle Ages.
Today’s kids, immersed in the internet from birth, would lose their minds. A whole segment of our society would disappear.
The internet is a double-edged sword, it liberates us while enslaving us.
