Les Maîtres de l’univers (Masters of the Universe) est un film d’heroic fantasy américain réalisé par Gary Goddard et sorti en 1987. Il s’agit de l’adaptation de la franchise de jouets homonyme de Mattel.

Ce long métrage a été nommé en 1988 à l’Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films et au Fantasporto.Il est considéré comme un film culte.

Synopsis:

Aux confins de la galaxie, la planète Eternia est tombée sous le joug du terrible sorcier Skeletor et son armée. S’étant rendu maître du Château des ombres, il garde la Sorcière, gardienne du château, prisonnière dans un champ de force qui sappe ses pouvoirs. Seul Musclor, guerrier d’une force et d’un courage exceptionnels, secondé par ses compagnons le Maître d’armes et sa fille Tila, capitaine de la Garde royale, a encore une chance d’arrêter Skeletor. Le trio réussit à sauver le maître serrurier Gwildor, inventeur d’une clé cosmique capable d’ouvrir un téléportail menant à n’importe où ailleurs en jouant de la bonne séquence de notes musicales. Malicia, second de Skeletor, s’est déjà emparée d’un exemplaire de la clé, ce qui a permis à son maître de s’infiltrer dans le château sans entraves.

Synopsis:

At the edge of the galaxy, the planet Eternia has fallen under the rule of the terrible sorcerer Skeletor and his army. Having seized control of Castle Grayskull, he holds the Sorceress, guardian of the castle, prisoner in a force field that drains her powers. Only He-Man, a warrior of exceptional strength and courage, aided by his companions Man-At-Arms and his daughter Teela, captain of the Royal Guard, still has a chance to stop Skeletor. The trio manages to rescue the master locksmith Gwildor, inventor of a cosmic key capable of opening a teleportation portal to anywhere else by playing the correct sequence of musical notes. Evil-Lyn, Skeletor’s second-in-command, has already obtained a copy of the key, which allowed her master to infiltrate the castle unimpeded.
