Stars on 45 était un groupe pop néerlandais qui a connu du succès en Europe, aux États-Unis et en Australie au début des années 1980. Le groupe a ensuite raccourci son nom en Stars On aux États-Unis, tandis qu’au Royaume-Uni et en Irlande, il était connu sous le nom de Starsound (ou Star Sound). Le groupe, qui se composait uniquement de musiciens de studio sous la direction de Jaap Eggermont, anciennement de Golden Earring, a enregistré des titres medley réalisés en recréant des chansons à succès aussi fidèlement que possible et en les associant avec un tempo commun et une piste de batterie sous-jacente.

Stars on 45 was a Dutch novelty pop act that was successful in Europe, the United States, and Australia in the early 1980s. The group later shortened its name to Stars On in the U.S., while in the United Kingdom and Ireland it was known as Starsound (or Star Sound). The band, which consisted solely of studio session musicians under the direction of Jaap Eggermont, formerly of Golden Earring, recorded medley recordings made by recreating hit songs as faithfully as possible and joining them together with a common tempo and underlying drum track.
Queen Samantha était une artiste disco des années 1970 produite par le musicien parisien Harry Chalkitis. Gloria Brooks, une chanteuse de Chicago, qui fut la chanteuse principale de nombreux enregistrements de Chalkitis. Toutes les chansons ont été co-écrites par Chalkitis et sa femme Myriam (à l’exception d’une version de couverture graphique de « The Letter », à l’origine par The Box Tops).
Chalkitis a enregistré les morceaux alors qu’il vivait à Paris, et les disques ont été publiés sur Atoll Records, un label français.

« The letter »
Queen Samantha was a 1970s disco artist produced by the Parisian musician Harry Chalkitis. Gloria Brooks, a singer from Chicago, was the lead vocalist on many of Chalkitis’ recordings. All of the songs were co-written by Chalkitis and his wife Myriam (except a charting cover version of « The Letter », originally by The Box Tops).
Chalkitis recorded the tracks while living in Paris, and the records were released on Atoll Records, a French label. In the U.S., the records were released by Henry Stone’s Marlin label.

Le rock vient avant tout des Etats-Unis, cependant certains groupes issus d’autres pays parviennent aussi fort bien à l’adapter, c’est le cas d’Alphaville .

Alphaville est un groupe new wave allemand qui entame sa carrière aux débuts des années 80. La formation se compose à la base de Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd et de Frank Mertens.

L’opus remporte un franc succès, notamment grâce aux chansons «Big In Japan », « Sounds like a melody » et «Forever Young » qui obtiennent d’excellents résultats dans les classements de nombreux pays.

Après la sortie de l’album,Frank Mertens décide de se séparer du groupe, il est immédiatement remplacé par Ricky Echolette.
Alphaville propose en 1986 son deuxième album, « Afternoon in utopia ». C’est, une fois de plus, une réussite notamment grâce au single «Dance with me », qui se place dans le Top 20 en Europe ainsi qu’en Afrique du sud.
« Breathtaking blue », qui sort en 1989, rencontre un succès comparable aux précédents albums.
Un succès plus mitigé.
« Prostitute », en 1994, n’obtient pas le succès escompté.
Cherchant à reconquérir son public, le groupe sort son nouveau disque, « Salvation », en 1997. La nouvelle création du groupe s’axe davantage vers la dance que les précédents opus.
Après la sortie d’une compilation, puis un disque reprenant des lives, Alphaville revient avec un nouvel album, « Crazy Show», en 2003…

Opusul a avut un mare succes, datorită în special pieselor „Big In Japan”, „Sounds like a melody” și „Forever Young” care au obținut rezultate excelente în clasamentele multor țări.
Schimbarea în formație.
După lansarea albumului, Frank Mertens decide să se separe de grup, fiind imediat înlocuit de Ricky Echolette.

Alphaville is a German new wave band that began its career in the early 80s. The line-up consists of Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd and Frank Mertens. The trio released their very first album, « Forever young », in 1984.
The opus was a great success, thanks in particular to the songs « Big In Japan », « Sounds like a melody » and « Forever Young » which obtained excellent results in the rankings of many countries.

Gregorian est un groupe de musique allemand dirigé par Frank Peterson, reprenant de nombreux titres du répertoire populaire moderne (entre autres Dire Straits, Depeche Mode, ou Led Zeppelin) mais dont les chanteurs s’inspirent de l’esthétique du Grégorien. Il s’inscrit dans la pop grégorienne (avec l’ensemble Enigma notamment) apparu vers 1991.
Petite anecdote : Le titre « So sad » avait été proposé par son auteur au producteur du groupe Enigma, Michael Crețu, qui n’en avait pas voulu lors de l’enregistrement du premier album « MCMXC a.D. »
