C’est chic

C’est Chic comprend le tube signature du groupe « Le Freak », qui a dominé le palmarès US Hot 100, le R&B américain et US Club Play en octobre 1978, se vendant à six millions d’exemplaires aux États-Unis. L’album contient également le single à succès « I Want Your Love » (numéro 5 R&B, numéro 7 Pop, numéro 4 UK).

C’est Chic a été l’album le plus réussi du groupe sur le plan commercial, atteignant le numéro 4 du palmarès des albums de Billboard et en tête du palmarès R&B américain pendant onze semaines. C’est Chic a été l’album R&B de l’année 1979 de Billboard, revendiquant la première place de la revue de fin d’année de Billboard. L’album a été certifié platine par la RIAA, se vendant à plus d’un million d’exemplaires. Au Royaume-Uni, il a culminé à la seconde place et a été certifié disque d’Or par le BPI.

La version européenne s’appelait à l’origine Très Chic, avec la couverture représentant une femme enroulée autour d’un tube néon. Il a été retiré et remplacé par la version C’est Chic avec une couverture moins risquée. Très Chic avait un répertoire légèrement différent.

C’est Chic est sorti sur disque compact par Atlantic Records/Warner Music en 1991 (numéro de catalogue 7567-81552-2). L’album a été remasterisé numériquement et réédité deux fois : d’abord en 2011 par Warner Music Japan puis en 2018 aux Abbey Road Studios par Atlantic.

The European version was originally called Très Chic, with the cover featuring a woman wrapped around a neon light tube. It was withdrawn and replaced with the C’est Chic version with a less risqué cover. Très Chic had a different track listing.

C’est Chic was released on compact disc by Atlantic Records/Warner Music in 1991 (catalogue number 7567-81552-2). The album has been digitally remastered and re-issued twice: first in 2011 by Warner Music Japan and then in 2018 at Abbey Road Studios by Atlantic.
