La fête des grands-mères ou fête des grand-mères est une fête annuelle célébrée dans plusieurs pays en l’honneur des grands-mères. Elle est notamment fêtée le deuxième dimanche d’octobre en Allemagne, le premier dimanche de mars en France et le en Pologne.

Synopsis:
Madame Billard vit à Auxerre. Elle est veuve, mène une vie paisible, en compagnie d’Odile, sa femme de ménage. Sa principale occupation consiste à torturer la pauvre Odile, année après année, jour après jour, jusqu’au jour maudit où elle va trop loin : un gros chandelier s’abat sur Odile. Elle meurt de sa belle mort. Les neveux de Madame Billard, sa seule famille encore vivante, lui offrent de venir vivre chez eux à Paris.

Grandmothers’ Day, is an annual celebration observed in several countries in honor of grandmothers. It is notably celebrated on the second Sunday of October in Germany, the first Sunday of March in France, and January 21st in Poland.

Synopsis:
Madame Billard lives in Auxerre. She is a widow and leads a peaceful life with Odile, her housekeeper. Her main occupation is tormenting poor Odile, year after year, day after day, until the fateful day she goes too far: a large candlestick falls on Odile. She dies a natural death. Madame Billard’s nephews, her only remaining family, offer her a place to live with them in Paris.
