« L’aigle noir », l’une des chansons les plus célèbres de Barbara, n’est pas le simple récit d’un rêve. Les paroles sont la transposition d’un drame vécu par la chanteuse disparue il y a 20 ans. Derrière les mots se cache le drame de sa vie, son viol, à l’âge de dix ans, par son père. Quand on le sait, le voile poétique se déchire et l’horreur apparaît en pleine lumière.
« Un beau jour, ou peut-être une nuit… », chacun a siffloté cet air, chantonné ses paroles. « L’aigle noir » est la plus célèbre chanson de Barbara. L’artiste qui figure avec Ferré, Brel et Brassens au Panthéon de la chanson française du 20e siècle avait livré son plus grand secret en 1970 et sans que personne s’en aperçoive. Il a fallu attendre 1997, le décès de Barbara à 67 ans, puis la publication de son livre de mémoires pour s’apercevoir que cet « aigle noir » n’était autre que son père. C’était lui cet aigle noir surgissant au coeur de son enfance pour lui faire subir l’inceste.

În spatele cuvintelor se află drama vieții ei, violul ei, la vârsta de zece ani, de către tatăl ei. Când știm asta, vălul poetic este rupt și groaza apare în plină lumină.
„O zi bună, sau poate într-o noapte…”, toată lumea fluiera această melodie, fredona cuvintele. „The Black Eagle” este cea mai faimoasă melodie a lui Barbara. Artistul, care figurează alături de Ferré, Brel și Brassens în Panteonul cântecului francez al secolului XX, și-a dezvăluit cel mai mare secret în 1970, fără ca nimeni să observe. Abia în 1997, când Barbara a murit la vârsta de 67 de ani, și apoi publicarea memoriilor ei, a înțeles că acest „vultur negru” nu este nimeni altul decât tatăl ei. Era el, acest vultur negru care apăruse în inima copilăriei sale pentru a-l supune incestului.
