Suite à l’effondrement du glacier du Birch dans le canton du Valais survenu le lundi 26 mai:
Avec la montée des eaux de la rivière obstruée, la masse rocheuse et boueuse tombée dans l’après-midi pourrait ne pas retenir l’eau très longtemps. Si un mouvement sismique même de faible intensité devait se produire, des millions de mètres cubes de lave torrentielle s’écouleront dans la vallée jusqu’aux villages en contrebas…
La région reste en état d’alerte maximale.

Following the collapse of the Birch Glacier in the canton of Valais on Monday, May 26:
With the rising waters of the blocked river, the rocky, muddy mass that fell in the afternoon might not hold the water for very long. If even a minor seismic movement were to occur, millions of cubic meters of torrential lava would flow down the valley to the villages below…
The region remains on high alert.

În urma prăbușirii ghețarului de Birch în cantonul Valais luni, 26 mai:
Odată cu creșterea apelor râului blocat, masa stâncoasă și noroioasă care a căzut după-amiaza ar putea să nu rețină apa pentru foarte mult timp. Dacă ar avea loc chiar și o mișcare seismică minoră, milioane de metri cubi de lavă torenţială s-ar scurge pe vale spre satele de mai jos…
Regiunea rămâne în alertă maximă.
