Joe Cocker, un personnage à part dans le monde du Blues. Par sa voix d’abord, exceptionnelle et son attitude sur scène. Mimant la gestuelle de Ray Charles à ses débuts, celui qui était caché par ses choristes pour ne pas que l’Amérique ne s’offusque face aux soubresauts tétaniques de l’artiste est devenu une légende, non sans avoir bien galéré avant de connaître la gloire. Celle-ci est arrivée en 1969 lorsque Joe Cocker décide, sur les conseils du producteur Denny Cordell, de reprendre « With a little help from my friends » des Beatles. Il enregistrera l’album juste derrière, accompagné d’un certain Jimmy Page, de Stevie Winwood et Albert Lee.
