L’origine du logo Bluetooth

Le logo Bluetooth a une origine intéressante qui allie histoire et symbologie nordique.

Le nom « Bluetooth » vient en fait de « Harald Bluetooth », un roi viking danois (Danois veut dire habitants du Danemark) du 10ème siècle. Le nom a été choisi car le Bluetooth vise à unir différents appareils de la même manière que le roi Harald a unifié les tribus danoises.
Quant au symbole du Bluetooth, il est une combinaison des runes « Hagall (ᚼ) » et « Bjarkan (ᛒ) », les initiales de Harald Bluetooth en vieux norrois.
La combinaison de ces runes forme le symbole que nous connaissons aujourd’hui comme le logo Bluetooth.

NB: Une rune est une lettre d’un alphabet utilisé par les peuples germaniques et scandinaves anciens avant l’adoption de l’alphabet latin.
Le choix du nom et du symbole représente la capacité de la technologie Bluetooth à rassembler et connecter des appareils, comme le roi Harald a unifié différentes régions.
Les Vikings étaient originaires de Scandinavie au nord de l’Europe, une région composée de pays comme la Suède, la Norvège et le Danemark. Ils étaient connus pour leurs expéditions maritimes, leur culture guerrière et leur expansion territoriale à travers l’Europe et au-delà pendant l’ère viking, entre le VIIIe et le XIe siècle.

The origin of the Bluetooth logo

The Bluetooth logo has an interesting origin that combines history and Nordic symbology.

The name « Bluetooth » actually comes from « Harald Bluetooth », a Danish Viking king (Danish means inhabitants of Denmark) from the 10th century. The name was chosen because Bluetooth aims to unite different devices in the same way that King Harald unified the Danish tribes. As for the Bluetooth symbol, it is a combination of the runes “Hagall (ᚼ)” and “Bjarkan (ᛒ)”, the initials of Harald Bluetooth in Old Norse. The combination of these runes forms the symbol we know today as the Bluetooth logo.

NB: A rune is a letter of an alphabet used by ancient Germanic and Scandinavian peoples before the adoption of the Latin alphabet. The choice of name and symbol represents the ability of Bluetooth technology to bring together and connect devices, as King Harald unified different regions. The Vikings originated in Scandinavia in northern Europe, a region made up of countries like Sweden, Norway and Denmark. They were known for their maritime expeditions, warrior culture, and territorial expansion across Europe and beyond during the Viking Age, between the 8th and 11th centuries.

Boney M. est un groupe antillais de disco-pop, créé et dirigé par le producteur allemand Frank Farian et qui fut actif de 1975 à 1986. Les quatre membres originels du groupe sont Bobby Farrell, Liz Mitchell, Maizie Williams, et Marcia Barrett. Reggie Tsiboe a chanté avec eux de 1982 à 1985. Le groupe a vendu plus de 50 millions de singles et 60 millions d’albums dans le monde selon les chiffres de leur producteur Frank Farian^.

The group has sold over 50 million singles and 60 million albums worldwide according to figures from their producer Frank Farian.

Lorsque Big Apple faisait danser la planète entière

À la fin des années 1970, le groupe Michael Zager Band a déferlé sur les boîtes de nuit branchées et les médias audiovisuels de l’époque avec un véritable tsunami musical qui a duré tout l’été. Le groupe a dominé haut la main les charts pendant des semaines.

Let’s All Chant est une chanson de Michael Zager Band sortie en single en 1978. Le single s’est vendu à 763 000 exemplaires en France. Au Canada, il a été certifié or par la CRIA le 1^er janvier 1979.

Aujourd’hui encore samplé par les plus grands DJ sans que la jeunesse n’en connaisse l’origine, ce titre reste un excellent souvenir pour les plus anciens et à découvrir pour les plus jeunes.

In the late 70s and early 80s, the Michael Zager Band invaded all the trendy nightclubs and audio-visual media of the time for one summer. This group easily won the top spots in the hit parades for weeks.

« Let’s All Chant » is a song by Michael Zager Band released as a single in 1978. The single sold 763,000 copies in France. In Canada, it was certified gold by CRIA on January 1, 1979.

Still sampled today by the greatest DJs without young people knowing its origin, this title remains an excellent memory for the oldest and one to discover for the youngest.

Issu des années fastes, les années 80, ce titre raisonne toujours dans les oreilles de toutes générations confondues.

La jeunesse bascule dans le désespoir!

En hommage à ces gosses qui voient plus loin que leurs aînés.

Que leur laisse-t-on hormis nos faux espoirs emballés proprement par des mensonges à demi-mot avoués?

Un monde en proie à l’égoïsme, la cupidité, la corruption, la pourriture ambiante, la guerre, l’injustice. Ce monde pue le cadavre en décomposition. Les artifices et lumières froides qui font les couchers de soleil de cet environnement insipides, inodore et sans couleurs camouflent une souffrance, un abandon, une solitude inoubliable et un déni indiscutable dont le commun des mortels se nourrit jusqu’à en crever.

Je pleure sur nous, je pleure pour nous.

Cette vidéo qui a été tournée par Victor Lebre alors âgé de 16 ans durant le confinement laisse transparaître le mal-être d’une génération qui, désespérée crie « Au secours! »

In tribute to these kids who see further than their elders.

What do we leave them other than our false hopes carefully packaged in half-admitted lies?

A world plagued by selfishness, greed, corruption, ambient rot, war, injustice. This world stinks of rotting corpses. The artifices and cold lights that make the sunsets of this insipid, odorless and colorless environment camouflage a suffering, an abandonment, an unforgettable solitude and an indisputable denial that ordinary mortals feed on until they die.

I cry over us, I cry for us.

This video, which was shot by Victor Lebre, then aged 16, during confinement, reveals the uneasiness of a generation who, in desperation, cry out “Help!”
