Terence Trent D’Arby, de son vrai nom Terence Trent Howard, né le 15 mars 1962 à New York, est un chanteur et musicien multi-instrumentiste américain.

Il est connu en France pour ses singles Wishing Well et Sign Your Name sortis en 1987.

Il joue de la guitare, du piano, de la basse et des percussions. Il allie la musique soul, R&B, reggae, funk et jazz. Il appelle sa musique Post Millennium Rock. Il se fait aussi appeler Sananda Maitreya depuis le début des années 2000.

Terence Trent D’Arby est le fils de Frances Howard, chanteuse de gospel à New York, qui l’élève avec son mari le révérend James Benjamin Darby, son beau-père, qui l’a reconnu à l’âge de sept ans. Dans son enfance, il chante à la chorale de son école et est rédacteur en chef du journal scolaire. Il passe sa jeunesse dans plusieurs villes des États-Unis, notamment à New York, où il est né, puis à Chicago, dans le New Jersey et en Floride. Il pratique intensément la boxe. En 1980 il gagne un titre important, le « Florida Golden Gloves – lightweigh championship ». Ensuite, il entreprend des études de journalisme à Orlando puis s’engage dans l’armée, dont il sera exclu en 1983 après avoir été jugé pour absence injustifiée. Il se lance alors avec succès dans la musique.

Faisant partie du régiment de l’U.S. Army basé à Hambourg (dont Elvis Presley avait été membre), il commence sa carrière dans un groupe de rock allemand nommé The Touch.

Terence Trent D’Arby este fiul cântăreței gospel din New York Frances Howard, care l-a crescut împreună cu soțul ei, reverendul James Benjamin Darby, tatăl său vitreg, care l-a recunoscut când avea șapte ani. În copilărie a cântat în corul școlii sale și a fost redactorul ziarului școlii. Și-a petrecut tinerețea în mai multe orașe din Statele Unite, în special în New York, unde s-a născut, apoi în Chicago, New Jersey și Florida. Practică intens boxul. În 1980 a câștigat un titlu important, „Mănușile de Aur Florida – campionatul la greutatea ușoară”. Apoi, a început să studieze jurnalismul la Orlando și apoi s-a înrolat în armată, din care a fost exmatriculat în 1983 după ce a fost judecat pentru absență nejustificată. Apoi s-a lansat cu succes în muzică.

Făcând parte din regimentul armatei americane cu sediul în Hamburg (din care Elvis Presley fusese membru), și-a început cariera într-o trupă rock germană numită The Touch.

Terence Trent D’Arby is the son of New York gospel singer Frances Howard, who raised him with her husband Reverend James Benjamin Darby, his stepfather, who recognized him when he was seven years old. As a child, he sang in his school choir and was the editor of the school newspaper. He spent his youth in several cities in the United States, notably in New York, where he was born, then in Chicago, New Jersey and Florida. He practices boxing intensely. In 1980 he won an important title, the « Florida Golden Gloves – lightweigh championship ». Then, he began studying journalism in Orlando and then joined the army, from which he was expelled in 1983 after being tried for unjustified absence. He then launched himself successfully into music.

Part of the U.S. Army regiment based in Hamburg (of which Elvis Presley had been a member), he began his career in a German rock band called The Touch.

(The new Romantics)

Avec ce titre : “Fade to grey” Steve Strange du groupe Visage est resté en tête du hit-parade durant plusieurs mois. Un des leaders du mouvement “New romantics” et avec la sortie de cet album, “Fade to grey”, Steve Strange marqua un tournant décisif dans la musique des 30 glorieuses.

Plusieurs projets dans les années 2000 et notamment ce remixe entre “Fade to grey” et Magic Fly” de Didier Marouani dont le résultat donna un “Fade to love” ainsi que de multiples remixes entre les deux groupes, projet qui a malheureusement été stoppé suite au décès prématuré de Steve Strange survenu en 2015.

Cu acest titlu: „Fade to gray” Steve Strange din grupul Visage a rămas în fruntea topurilor timp de câteva luni. Unul dintre liderii mișcării „Noii romantici” și odată cu lansarea acestui album, „Fade to gray”, Steve Strange a marcat un punct de cotitură în muzica celor 30 de ani glorioși.

Mai multe proiecte în anii 2000 și în special acest remix între „Fade to gray” și Magic Fly ”de Didier Marouani, al cărui rezultat a dat„ Fade to love ”, precum și multiple remixuri între cele două grupuri, un proiect care din păcate a fost a încetat după moartea prematură a lui Steve Strange în 2015.

Le film place le spectateur dans un futur proche, une dystopie dont le cadre se situe en 2054 à Washington (États-Unis), où trois êtres humains mutants, les précogs, peuvent prédire les crimes à venir grâce à leur don de précognition. Grâce à ces visions du futur, la ville a réussi à éradiquer la criminalité et les agents de l’organisation gouvernementale Précrime peuvent arrêter les criminels juste avant qu’ils ne commettent leurs méfaits. Mais un jour, le chef de l’unité John Anderton reçoit des précogs une vision le concernant : dans moins de 36 heures, il aura assassiné un homme qu’il ne connaît pas encore et pour une raison qu’il ignore. Choqué, il prend la fuite, poursuivi par ses coéquipiers qui ont pour mission de l’arrêter conformément au système.

Filmul plasează spectatorul în viitorul apropiat, o distopie care are loc în 2054 Washington, SUA, unde trei oameni mutanți, precogs, pot prezice crime viitoare prin darul lor de precogniție. Datorită acestor viziuni asupra viitorului, orașul a reușit să eradice criminalitatea, iar agenții organizației guvernamentale Precrime pot aresta infractorii chiar înainte ca aceștia să-și comită faptele. Dar într-o zi, liderul unității John Anderton primește o viziune de la precogs despre el: în mai puțin de 36 de ore, va fi ucis un bărbat pe care nu-l cunoaște încă și dintr-un motiv oarecare nu-l cunoaște. Șocat, fuge, urmărit de colegii săi care au misiunea de a-l aresta în conformitate cu sistemul.

Thanks to these visions of the future, the city has succeeded in eradicating crime and the agents of the government organization Precrime can arrest criminals just before they commit their misdeeds. But one day, unit chief John Anderton receives a vision from the precogs about him: in less than 36 hours, he will have murdered a man he does not yet know and for some reason he does not know. Stars on 45 était un groupe pop néerlandais qui a connu du succès en Europe, aux États-Unis et en Australie au début des années 1980. Le groupe a ensuite raccourci son nom en Stars On aux États-Unis, tandis qu’au Royaume-Uni et en Irlande, il était connu sous le nom de Starsound (ou Star Sound). Le groupe, qui se composait uniquement de musiciens de studio sous la direction de Jaap Eggermont, anciennement de Golden Earring, a enregistré des titres medley réalisés en recréant des chansons à succès aussi fidèlement que possible et en les associant avec un tempo commun et une piste de batterie sous-jacente.

Trupa, care a fost formată în întregime din muzicieni de sesiune sub conducerea lui Jaap Eggermont, fostul Golden Earring, a înregistrat piese mixte realizate prin recrearea cât mai fidelă a cântecelor de succes și împerecherea lor cu un tempo și o melodie comune.

Stars on 45 was a Dutch novelty pop act that was successful in Europe, the United States, and Australia in the early 1980s. The group later shortened its name to Stars On in the U.S., while in the United Kingdom and Ireland it was known as Starsound (or Star Sound). The band, which consisted solely of studio session musicians under the direction of Jaap Eggermont, formerly of Golden Earring, recorded medley recordings made by recreating hit songs as faithfully as possible and joining them together with a common tempo and underlying drum track.

« The letter »

Queen Samantha était une artiste disco des années 1970 produite par le musicien parisien Harry Chalkitis. Gloria Brooks, une chanteuse de Chicago, qui fut la chanteuse principale de nombreux enregistrements de Chalkitis. Toutes les chansons ont été co-écrites par Chalkitis et sa femme Myriam (à l’exception d’une version de couverture graphique de « The Letter », à l’origine par The Box Tops).

Chalkitis a enregistré les morceaux alors qu’il vivait à Paris, et les disques ont été publiés sur Atoll Records, un label français.

Aux États-Unis, les disques ont été publiés par le label Marlin de Henry Stone. Le plus grand succès de Queen Samantha fut « Mama Rue ». Le single « Take a Chance » accompagné de « Sweet San Francisco » fut publié par TK Records et remixé par Steve Thompson et Michael Arato.

Parmi les autres singles, citons « Funky Celebration » dans les années 1980, « Give Me Action » en 1982 et « Close Your Eyes » en 1983 édité par le label California’s Megatone.

Queen Samantha a fost o artistă disco din anii 1970, produsă de muzicianul parizian Harry Chalkitis. Gloria Brooks, o cântăreață din Chicago, care a fost vocalista principală la multe înregistrări Chalkitis. Toate melodiile au fost co-scrise de Chalkitis și soția sa Myriam (cu excepția „The Letter”, inițial de The Box Tops).
