Il est devenu un hit numéro un du Billboard Hot 100 pendant une semaine en octobre 1976 (et classé n ° 97 sur les 100 chansons les plus populaires de l’année selon le magazine Billboard). Il a également fait le top 20 du palmarès Billboard Hot Soul Singles, culminant au numéro 15. La chanson a remporté un People’s Choice Award en 1977 pour la nouvelle chanson préférée.

« Disco Duck » is a satirical disco novelty song performed by Rick Dees and His Cast of Idiots. At the time, Dees was a Memphis disc jockey. It became a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 for one week in October 1976 (and ranked #97 out of the 100 most popular songs of the year according to Billboard magazine). It also made the top 20 on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart, peaking at number 15. The song earned a 1977 People’s Choice Award for Favorite New Song.
