Tears for Fears est un groupe de pop rock anglais formé à Bath, en Angleterre, en 1981 par Roland Orzabal et Curt Smith. Fondé après la dissolution de leur premier groupe, le diplômé influencé par le groupe The mod, Tears for Fears a été associé aux groupes de synthétiseurs new wave du début des années 1980 et a obtenu un succès international. Tears for Fears faisait partie de la deuxième vague britannique aux États-Unis et dirigée par MTV.

Sorti en single en 1994, la chanson a été un succès dans de nombreux pays, notamment en Autriche, au Canada, en France, en Allemagne, en Islande, en Irlande, en Italie et en Norvège, où elle a dominé les charts des singles. Aux États-Unis, le single culmine à la neuvième place du Billboard Hot 100.
