Le Jour où la Terre s’arrêta (The Day the Earth Stood Still) est un film de science-fiction américain, remake du film du même nom de 1951, réalisé par Scott Derrickson sur le scénario de David Scarpa d’après le scénario original d’Edmund H. North, avec Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Kathy Bates et Jon Hamm. Le film sortit le 10 décembre 2008 en Belgique et en France, et le 12 décembre 2008 aux États-Unis.

Synopsis

Une sorte de sphère atterrit sur Terre. En sort Klaatu, un extraterrestre d’apparence humaine (mais né d’une chrysalide) qui souhaite transmettre un message à l’humanité alors que des phénomènes étranges font leur apparition.

Rezumat

Un fel de sferă aterizează pe Pământ. Iese Klaatu, un extraterestru cu aspect uman (dar născut dintr-o crisalidă) care dorește să transmită un mesaj omenirii pe măsură ce apar fenomene ciudate.

Synopsis

Some kind of sphere lands on Earth. Out comes Klaatu, an alien in human appearance (but born from a chrysalis) who wishes to convey a message to humanity as strange phenomena appear.

Dans le film, des enfants qui vivent dans le quartier « Goon Docks » d’Astoria, dans l’Oregon, tentent de sauver leur maison de la saisie et, ce faisant, ils découvrent une vieille carte au trésor qui les emmène dans une aventure extraordinaire. Au cours de l’aventure, ils sont poursuivis par une famille de criminels.

Produit par Amblin Entertainment de Spielberg, Warner Bros a sorti le film en salles le 7 juin 1985 aux États-Unis. Le film a rapporté 125 millions de dollars dans le monde sur un budget de 19 millions de dollars et est depuis devenu un film culte. En 2017, le film a été sélectionné pour être conservé au National Film Registry des États-Unis par la Bibliothèque du Congrès comme étant « important sur le plan culturel, historique ou esthétique ».

Planète interdite (Forbidden Planet) est un film de science-fiction américain réalisé par Fred McLeod Wilcox et sorti sur les écrans en 1956.

En 2013, le film est sélectionné par le National Film Registry de la Bibliothèque du Congrès américain pour y être conservé, comme étant « culturellement, historiquement ou esthétiquement important »

Synopsis:

Un prologue explique quand et comment la conquête de l’espace a été rendue possible depuis la Terre, grâce à l’invention d’engins capables de se déplacer à la vitesse de la lumière. Désormais, les humains vivent sous le régime des Planètes unies.

En 2257, le croiseur spatial C-57D, avec à sa tête le commandant John Adams, est en route vers la planète Altaïr IV pour secourir le Bellérophon, vaisseau d’exploration dont l’équipage n’a plus donné signe de vie depuis dix-neuf ans. Au moment de l’approche, le professeur Edward Morbius, ancien membre de cette expédition perdue, contacte soudain le croiseur et déclare qu’il n’a besoin d’aucun secours. Il met en garde le commandant et prévient qu’il ne pourra pas garantir la sécurité de ses hommes. Adams décide néanmoins de se poser sur Altaïr IV.

Sur place, Adams, le lieutenant Jerry Farman et le lieutenant « Doc » Ostrow sont accueillis par Robby le robot, qui, dans un véhicule, les conduit à une villa où Morbius leur apprend qu’une mystérieuse et gigantesque force a jadis tué tous les passagers du Bellérophon et détruit le vaisseau. Il fut l’un des trois seuls survivants, avec sa femme (décédée entre-temps de mort naturelle) et leur fille Altaïra. Il prévient les trois officiers que ceux-ci risquent leurs vies en restant ici. Altaïra, qui n’a jamais connu que son père, se montre très intriguée par les officiers : Adams et Farman tombent sous le charme de la jeune fille, un triangle amoureux se met en place. Adams décide de contacter la Terre.

Synopsis:

A prologue explains when and how the conquest of space was made possible from Earth, thanks to the invention of machines capable of moving at the speed of light. From now on, humans live under the regime of the United Planets.

In 2257, the space cruiser C-57D, with Commander John Adams at its head, is en route to the planet Altaïr IV to rescue the Bellerophon, an exploration vessel whose crew has not given any sign of life for ten -nine years. As they approach, Professor Edward Morbius, a former member of this lost expedition, suddenly contacts the cruiser and declares that he does not need any help. He warns the commander and warns that he will not be able to guarantee the safety of his men. Adams nevertheless decides to land on Altaïr IV.

There, Adams, Lieutenant Jerry Farman and Lieutenant « Doc » Ostrow are greeted by Robby the robot, who, in a vehicle, takes them to a villa where Morbius tells them that a mysterious and gigantic force once killed all passengers of the Bellerophon and destroyed the vessel. He was one of only three survivors, with his wife (who had since died of natural causes) and their daughter Altaïra. He warns the three officers that they are risking their lives by staying here. Altaïra, who has only ever known her father, is very intrigued by the officers: Adams and Farman fall under the young girl’s spell, a love triangle begins. Adams decides to contact Earth.
