Je vous propose une interview de ce jeune virtuose récemment rencontré et qu’il m’a fait l’amitié de m’accorder. Il faut savoir qu’à l’âge de 8 ans déjà il avait à son actif de nombreuses compositions.
Interview :
G.S: A quel âge as-tu commencé à faire de la musique?
Michael: J’ai commencé à jouer du piano à l’âge de cinq ans et ai commencé à composer à sept ans. J’ai commencé le chant à huit ans!
G.S : Qu’est-ce qui t’a motivé à faire de la musique ?
Michael : Quand j’avais entre 2 et 4 ans je chantais toujours à la maison, alors ma mère m’a envoyé dans une école de musique pour chanter dans une chorale d’enfants. Là, j’ai vu notre professeur jouer du piano et j’en suis immédiatement tombé amoureux, alors j’ai voulu jouer aussi !
G.S : Combien de compositions as-tu à ton crédit ?
Michael : Je dirais environ 400 compositions pour piano, 200 compositions modernes et environ 300 compositions de musique de films. La plupart de ces compositions ne sont pas encore publiés. Le processus de mixage et de mastering prend beaucoup de temps.
G.S : Quelle est selon toi ta plus belle compositions ?
Michael : Je n’ai pas vraiment de coup de cœur, il y en a beaucoup, en particulier des musiques de films que j’aime beaucoup entendre moi-même.
G.S : Où vis-tu aujourd’hui ?
Michael : J’habite à Barcelone, en Espagne.
G.S : J’apprécie vraiment ce que tu fais et je serai très heureux de te rencontrer.
Michael : Je serais heureux de vous rencontrer aussi, peut-être que vous venez à Barcelone un jour, Barcelone est une ville magnifique.
G.S : Je connais très bien Barcelone, j’y suis allé plusieurs fois et je peux le confirmer, c’est une très belle ville. Le rendez-vous est pris.

Il compose alors la musique de Blade Runner pour laquelle il est nommé au BAFTA Awards, ainsi qu’aux Golden Globes en 1983.

I was lucky enough to be introduced to Vangelis during a concert he gave in Athens, Greece. We had since become very close friends. What Vangelis and I had in common was composing music without ever writing it.
Vangelis was born on March 29, 1943 in Agría, a village bordering Volos. He began playing the piano at the age of four and gave the first public performance of his own compositions at the age of six. Self-taught, he has no knowledge of music theory.
In 1981, Vangelis worked with director Hugh Hudson to compose the soundtrack to Chariots of Fire. In 1982, he received recognition with the Oscar for best film music. He is not present to receive the award, presenter William Hurt collects the award in his place. That same year, he began working with director Ridley Scott. He then composed the music for Blade Runner for which he was nominated for the BAFTA Awards, as well as the Golden Globes in 1983.
